Some of you know that I have a fifth school (thus making four visit schools) that I only go to about twice a year. This is the local Blind school (they have all ages from elementary to senior high). A visit there makes for a fairly exhausting day, but the kids are pretty good (for the most part) and I enjoy it.

Today was my second visit.

I was sent a schedule beforehand, so I knew that there was a "professional class" scheduled, but I didn't know what that meant. Turned out that meant that I got a massage from a 44 year old ex-banker who is taking the massage/acupuncture/moxibustion certification program that the school offers. So I got a half hour shoulder/back/arm/hand massage...mmmmmmmmmmmm..... so nice ^____________^ Also, something even better happened! In the elementary class, there is a kid who wouldn't let me touch him at all last time. He was also so shy that he wouldn't say his self-intro at the beginning of class today. However! Today he voluntarily held my hand during the game and at the end of class he came up to me and did his self-intro, including the handshake! (I was so proud of him ^_^).

I have a spring/rainy season cold. This would normally be annoying, but not unlivable, except for one thing... I've been losing my voice since yesterday. In fact, it's basically gone now *pouts*

Please, please, let me be back to normal by next week. *petitions anyone who may be listening* It's really not pleasant to try to teach with no voice ("try" being the operative word).

Today there was a film crew from Tochigi TV at school. I'm not sure what the subject of the program will be, maybe just a general school report... They filmed my OC class during third period (we were doing school differences between Japan and America), I think it went pretty well. In addition to myself, my co-teacher and the students, they filmed my walls (one has magazine pictures with added english captions, it's mostly JE boys, plus WaT, a couple of female athletes, and HG)...I bet a clip of that will show up in the final program.

All the students were nervious (not surprising) and the whole school felt kinda odd all day.

All good things must come to an end....tomorrow I go back to school for opening ceremonies. So it'll be a day of prep and boredom...sigh.....and I have to go on stage and be introduced with all the other 1nensei teachers (I hate having to be up in front of everyone). On the plus side, we're also doing the english welcome party tomorrow night. Plus, hanami this weekend...so long as the weather holds.

In a way it's a bit sad, because this means that I won't be teaching any of my students anymore (self-introductions here I come...again). And yet....I have two weeks off!!! *does happy vacation dance*

Of course I have no plans and will probably end up bored out of my skull....but I'll catch up on sleep at least.

It's been a kind of sad couple of days, most particularly yesterday. Yesterday was the graduation ceremony for Kanuma SHS...it kinda snuck up on me, I didn't know it was coming until Monday.

Last year wasn't so bad, I didn't really know any of the 3nensei's then. However, this year I've been taking a cooking class with 3-2 and the core members of the english club from my first year are 3rd years too. I came very close to crying during the ceremony and afterwards when my eigo-bu students came to say goodbye.

I will miss them.

So today is friday, right? That means english club, so I come back to Kanuma HS after finishing at K.Shoko. However, today it was canceled (but nobody told me) and I didn't feel like going home yet (all the teachers were in a meeting and I needed to get into the sewing room so I had to wait anyway), so I played some soccer with members of the track and field club for about an hour.

When we finished (meaning they had to do actual track and field stuff) I went to the teachers room, to see if the sewing room was open. Aparantly my shirt had loosened around the neck from the soccer, or how I was carrying my bag, but anyway...Souma sensei and a student I didn't recognise saw a bit of my tattoo. I've been pretty careful about showing it at school (meaning that no one there has seen it at all before), since it's kinda frowned upon...

I'm a good ALT and I know that none of my english teachers would care (Souma sensei thought it was cool, after he asked me if it was real)...and I don't think the administration would say anything....it's just something I didn't want to have to deal with....*sigh* I knew it would get spotted eventually, I just thought I'd be able to go more than two months before it happened...oh well.

EDIT:
I have bruises coming up on both of my ankles...joy...teach me to play soccer without my shin-guards.

Not much to say, I just wanted to have a post on this day ^_^.

I had a great day at school, yay for being an ALT so I can wear a costume! I got to freak out my students as a vampire (I have very realistic teath that I bought a few years ago), it was great fun. Plus, today was the first day of skit performances so I didn't have to actually teach, win-win for me!
